Obituary

Daniel Duane Hoy

Duane Hoy, 92, of Tulsa, Oklahoma died Saturday, July 11, 2026, surrounded by loving family. Duane was born near Oswego, KS on September 13, 1933, in a country bungalow on the family farm. His parents were Daniel and Maude Hoy. Duane graduated from Labette County Community High School in Altamont, Kansas in 1951. He married Charlene Barnes on January 1, 1953, in Oswego, Kansas. They were married for 60 years. Duane worked for Union LP Gas for most of his working life.

Duane gifted his family with a strong Christian heritage. He was father to four loving daughters and three sons-in-law: Debbie and Keith Henry of Mesa, Arizona, Cheryl and Don Barker of Coffeyville, Kansas, Janice Hoy of Lee's Summit, Missouri, and Carolyn and David Strickland of Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was Grandpa to Aaron, Kristin, Adam, Kelli, Joanna, Cody, and Gavin. He was Great-Grandpa to Samuel, Emmalyse, Micah, Benjamin, Claire, Luke, Isaiah, James, Samuel, Silas, Jaxon, Adley, and Lakyn. He will be deeply missed by all.

Duane came to know the Lord at 12 years of age and followed him all his life, serving faithfully in each church he attended. Duane was currently a member of Woodland Acres Baptist Church in Tulsa, OK. He loved music and singing in church choirs and also liked to golf, hunt, and fish. In addition, he was an avid gardener and amateur woodcarver. Duane had a passion for missions, supporting several mission efforts around the world as well as going on numerous mission trips himself. He had a special love for Russia and even learned to give his personal testimony in the Russian language. He never met a stranger. Duane loved the Lord, had a genuine love for people, and was known for his generosity.

Duane is survived by his four daughters Debbie (Keith), Cheryl (Don), Janice, and Carolyn (Dave) and also seven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Charlene in 2013, his parents Daniel and Maude Hoy, his siblings David Hoy and Donna Bower, and a great-granddaughter Elizabeth Henry.

Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. with family visitation at 11:15 a.m., Friday, July 17, 2026, at Woodland Acres Baptist Church in Tulsa. Burial will follow at McKee Cemetery in Hallowell, KS at 3:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lives Under Construction Boys Ranch in Lampe, MO (<https://www.lucboys.org/>) or InTouch Mission International (<https://intouchmission.org/>).
