Obituary

Daniel (Dan) Jay Morgan, devoted husband, beloved father, loving Papa, and loyal friend passed away on November 4, 2020. Dan was a faithful servant of Jesus Christ and is now home with his Savior.

He was born in Spokane, WA on November 28, 1950 to A.J. and Jeanne Morgan. He was the older brother of his beloved sister, Deb Boyce. Dan spent most of his childhood and school years in Spokane until the family relocated just outside of Seattle where Dan graduated high school in 1969. Dan went on to get a degree in Math & Physics from the University of Washington in 1973. From there, God called Dan to pursue a Masters of Divinity, and a PhD in Missions and Church History from Southwestern Theological Seminary where he met his future wife, Melanie.

Dan and Melanie were married in 1981 and started a family in Fort Worth, TX. Dan was
instrumental in starting Hope Church in Fort Worth and then went on to guide and equip church planters all across North America and even the world. From Texas, Oregon, California, and Canada, Dan dedicated his life to training church planters to grow healthy churches who centered around Jesus Christ. Dan also had a passion for teaching seminary students the beauty of church planting and sharing God's heart for new churches.

Dan retired in December 2019 and moved to Tulsa, OK to be closer to his children and
grandchildren. In his last months, Dan was able to travel around to see all of his kids, welcome a new grandson, help remodel a laundry room, read to his grandchildren, spend uninterrupted time with his wife, offer wisdom to his children, and speak into countless lives pointing them toward Jesus.

Dan is survived by his wife of almost 40 years, Melanie; his son Drew and wife Mel and their children, Andromeda and Petra; his daughter Dana and husband Kevin and their children, Hudson, Madeline, and Dawson; his son David and fiance Natalie; his son Daniel and wife Taylor and their children, Maisy, Eleanor, and Ender; and his sister Deb and her husband Doug.

Dan will mostly be remembered as a wise, gentle, loving, and faithful follower of Jesus Christ. Dan fought the good fight, he finished the race, and he kept the faith.
