Danny Lee
Margerum
July 31, 1949 – March 21, 2026
Danny Margerum, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2026, in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 76. Born on July 31, 1949, in Blackwell, Oklahoma, Danny was a true son of the heartland-steadfast, generous, and quietly devoted to family and community.
Danny was preceded in death by his loving parents, Kenneth Eldon Margerum and Annis Colain Brannon Margerum; his sister, Patricia Colain Margerum; and his father-in-law, CL Behrends. He is survived by his wife and best friend, Deborah "Debbie" Elaine Behrends Margerum; his daughter, Casey Noel Margerum Henley; grandsons Matthew Bryce Margerum and Thatcher James Henley, who were the lights of his life; his sister, Lura Doreen Margerum Bates; his sister-in-law Pamela Jane Behrends Black; his mother-in-law, Rose Marie Fritz Behrends; and many loving nieces and nephews.
A proud graduate of Broken Arrow High School's Class of 1968, Danny went on to earn his Bachelor's degree in Education from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah in 1973, followed by a Master's in Education from Northeastern State University in 1976. His love of teaching and mentoring led him to a long and fulfilling career with Tulsa Public Schools, where he retired in 2010 after decades of shaping lives as a shop teacher, wrestling coach, and softball coach. Danny was the kind of teacher kids remembered-the one who saw potential in everyone, who could turn a wrench and a word of encouragement into a lesson that stuck for life.
A devout Catholic, Danny lived his faith through quiet action, always ready to lend a hand or share a story. He was a craftsman and woodworker, known for his knack for fixing anything and his pride in a job done right. His hands, calloused from years of work, built not just furniture and projects, but also a family legacy of love and resilience.
Danny's happiest moments were spent outdoors with those he loved. He taught his daughter and grandsons how to fish, how to spot deer tracks in the woods, and how to make a campfire that would last through the night. He coached Casey through softball seasons, cheered on every home run, and offered guidance with patience and heart. Family trips to Roaring River, surrounded by mountains, laughter, and good friends, became treasured traditions-memories that will echo for generations.
To know Danny was to know warmth, humor, and quiet strength. He believed in hard work, in the healing power of nature, and in the bonds of family above all else. The legacy he leaves behind is not just in the lives he taught or the projects he built, but in every loving memory shared around campfires and kitchen tables.
Funeral information for Danny Margerum is as follows: Visitation will be held on Friday, March 27th, from 6-8 pm at Moore Funeral Home, 9350 E 51st St, Tulsa, OK. The Funeral Mass will take place at 10 am on Saturday, March 28, at St. Pius Catholic Church, 1727 S 75th E Ave, Tulsa, OK, followed by a graveside service at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5111 S Memorial Drive, Tulsa, OK.
We will miss him terribly, but we will carry his lessons and his love with us always.
