Obituary

Darel Wayne Duvall, 76, passed away at his home on January 6, 2026, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Born on September 27, 1949, in Russellville, Arkansas, Darel lived a life defined by hard work, unwavering loyalty, and deep faith.

A proud graduate of Oklahoma State University, Darel earned his Bachelor of Science in Construction Management and went on to build a remarkable career in the construction industry. As the owner of Advanced Construction Technologies LTD and Steven's and Duvall Construction, he worked across the country - most notably in/all over Alaska - where his projects left a lasting mark. His dedication extended beyond business; he helped in rebuilding efforts following Hurricane Katrina in Mississippi, demonstrating his commitment to helping others through action and expertise.

Darel was known for his tireless work ethic and fierce devotion to those he loved. He was described by his son as a - hard shell teddy bear - opinionated and strong-willed, but endlessly generous and dependable. Even if you weren't part of his circle, you knew you could count on him for anything and everything. He truly would give the shirt off his back to someone in need.

He found joy and peace in nature. Whether hunting, camping, fishing, or simply sitting by the fire with a beer in one hand and flipping eggs in the other, Darel felt most at home in the woods, surrounded by the elements. One of his favorites was going to what his granddaughter called "Grandpa's Mountains" at the cabin in Arkansas. A cabin he helped build in the very mountains he used to hunt in with his father. Driving was another lifelong passion. Starting long before kids, with his wife, Connie, in the passenger seat reading to him while he followed the open road. He traveled extensively across the United States and made countless trips to and from Alaska behind the wheel. He passed that passion down to his kids, often making the trips with them in tow. A third passion of his was cooking. Famous to our family for his tomato gravy, which he learned cooking side by side with his mom. From learning it all on the farm to cooking it this past Thanksgiving, and every year and family get together in between.

Darel's faith was central to his life. Passionate about Jehovah God, he read the Bible multiple times over and lived by its teachings with conviction.

Darel leaves behind a legacy of strength, generosity, and love - a man who worked with purpose and lived with heart. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his beloved wife Connie Duvall; children Matt Duvall (Heather), Zachary Duvall (Jaclyn), Joshua Duvall (Tracey), Sarah Fowler (Clint); son-in-law John Hayes; grandchildren Nealey Dake, Madeline Duvall, Maren Duvall, James Hayes, Isabelle Hayes, Parker Duvall, Kennedy Duvall, Harrison Fowler, Richard Fowler, and Marin Duvall; sisters Vondell Spencer, Brenda Merritt, and Deborah Hunter; with countless aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends that span across the nation, from Alaska and Hawaii to Florida and Maine and everywhere in between.

He was preceded in death by his father Norman Duvall; mother Thelma Duvall; and daughter Bianca Hayes.

A celebration of life, in true Darel fashion, will be held on February 14, 2026, from 3:00pm until the fire burns out. Located at 6866 S. 337th W. Ave. Mannford, Oklahoma. Go through the red gate and follow the road until you see the welcome fire on the right. Park in the grass area to your left. Words will be spoken at 5:00pm by his dear friend, Mike Webb, immediately followed by the lighting of the bonfire. We will be outside enjoying nature, the way Darel would, so dress accordingly. Be comfortable, wear your construction or work gear, just be there and be comfortable to want to stay awhile. We want to hear all the stories you have about Darel. There will be multiple ways to share; talking, typing, recording, video, however you do it, we just want to hear it. Food, drinks, and chairs will be provided.

If you have a memory and don't want to share it at the celebration or can't make it to the celebration, we still want to hear it! Please email his daughter, Sarah Fowler, at sduvall@okstate.edu or send it through Facebook messenger (you can find her through his page).
