Obituary

Daryl F. Southard, age 80, went to be with his Lord and Savior on August 22, 2015 after a short illness. He will be missed by so many.

Daryl was born January 18, 1935 in Sapulpa to beloved parents Elmer and Viola (Fowler) Southard. Daryl met the love of his life, Carol, at junior high church camp, and they were married in 1954, continuing a life-long love affair. Soon after, he graduated with honors from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and began a long, successful career that included travel to 33 countries, all 50 states, 7 provinces of Canada, and many moves around the country, while working for Cities Service, Armellini Engineering, and Will Bros Engineering.

Daryl lived his life to the fullest, serving God, his church, his family and his fellow man. He was a man of great faith and character. He treasured time in Colorado, playing golf at Seminole with his brother-in-law Jerry Pittman, riding bicycles all over the world, and he loved a challenge or a project. Daryl was a master craftsman and worked side by side with his Dad building houses and furniture and was never too busy to use this gift to help others. He had great intellectual curiosity and a life-long love of learning.

Daryl is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Glenn Southard. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife of more than 60 years, Carol; his brother Ken Southard; his son Mark Southard and wife Patti; daughter Christy Southard; grandsons Ty Southard (Kellie), Brooks Southard, Ryan Dayton (Darcy), and Chad Dayton (Beth); great-grandchildren Haley Baker, Kinsley Southard, McKayla Southard, Caleb Baker, Ariana Southard, Tanner Dayton, Isabella Southard; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that any contributions be made to the Harvard Avenue Christian Church endowment or the Phillips Theological Seminary endowment, two callings that Daryl passionately served and supported.

Visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at Moore's Southlawn Chapel.
Memorial Service will be at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, August 27, 2015 at Harvard Avenue Christian Church, 5502 S Harvard Ave. Tulsa, OK.
