David Gene Beair, known as Gene or Geno to his closest family and friends, went to be with Jesus on April 22nd, 2024. Gene was born in Labette County, Kansas, on August 5th,1929, to Lloyd and Gladys Beair. He grew up in Coffeyville, Kansas, where he met and married his sweetheart, Selma. They shared nearly 56 years of marriage together before she passed away, in 2005.
A loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Gene was known for his generous heart and spirit of service. During his career in aviation management, he was a Quality Manager over hundreds of employees, and led teams on the Space Shuttle, B1 Bomber, and a number of other commercial and military aircraft fleet types. While Gene spent his entire life in service to others, upon his retirement, he fully immersed himself in serving his community. Over the years, he gave his time working with the American Red Cross, American Cancer Society, Meals on Wheels, American Heart Association, Camp Lo-Be-Gon (a day camp for children with Diabetes), the Green Country Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (he played an integral role in its founding), and on mission trips, both locally and abroad.
He also spent decades attending St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Tulsa, where he served in a variety of volunteer roles. Gene was preceded in death by his wife Selma, parents, brother Jim, and sister-in-law Carolyn. He is survived by his sister-in-law Claudine Papen; 4 sons and their wives - Stan and Marva Beair, David Beair, Duane and Debbie Beair, and Brian and Kim Beair; 5 grandchildren and their spouses - Beau and Jen Beair, Sterling and Nancy Beair, Kara and Grant Butler, Brian L. Beair, and Kellee Hayes ; and 9 great-grandchildren - Abigail Beair, Gabriella Beair, Azriel Mendoza, Azeiah Mendoza, Maddie Beair, Eden Butler, Mac Butler, Eisla Butler, and Skyler Brashear.
