Obituary

David Loy Briggs, Age 79, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away on Monday, December 11, 2023 at his home, after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease.

David was born on January 20, 1944 in Tulsa, OK. He was raised by his grandparents Maggie and Wesley Briggs. David grew up in Eldon, Oklahoma on the Briggs family farm with his Aunt Alice. Alice was 11 years older than David and fondly remembers him as "the best baby." David was an active child and enjoyed playing sports.

David graduated from Northeastern State University with a degree in business. He had a career in banking and was the Senior Vice President of Triad Bank in Tulsa until his retirement in 2004. David absolutely loved cars - hot rods! He was known as the Corvette Man. He owned numerous corvettes over the years and they were in pristine condition. He also enjoyed speed boats and hang gliding. One of his prize possessions was a T-bucket known as the "ground shaker."

David met Evelyn in 2003. David's son Jason was in the hospital and Evelyn was his nurse. Jason introduced David and Evelyn. They began dating and were married July 16, 2005. David and Evelyn enjoyed traveling. They visited South Dakota and the Mt. Rushmore and Crazy horse monuments. David and Evelyn enjoyed cruises. They visited the Caribbean and Alaska. They enjoyed driving the east coast all the way up to Maine. David was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease very early in their marriage, but David managed the disease well until the past few years.

David is survived by his wife Evelyn Briggs of the home, his Aunt Alice Waltrip of the home, his brother Bill Sours and his wife Kathy and their children Thomas and Katie Sours of Virginia. David's three stepsons, Christopher Ballenger and his wife Christine of Bentonville, VA; John Ballenger and his wife Mandi of Jennings, OK; Joshua Ballenger and his wife Leslie of Sapulpa, OK. Seven grandchildren - Meagan & Chris of Hulbert, OK; Tyler & Avery of Talala, OK; Melanie & Jake of Whitinsville, MA, Tabor of Stillwater, OK; Illyana of Cushing, OK; Hannah of Bentonville, VA; and Joshua of Sapulpa, OK. He is preceded in death by his son Jason Briggs, his grandparents Maggie and Wesley Briggs, and his Uncle Johnnie Briggs.

A funeral service to celebrate David's life will be held at Moore Funeral Homes Southlawn Chapel on Friday, December 15, 2023 at 10:00 am with Reverend Randy Shaddox officiating.

The family expresses gratitude to Season's Hospice as well as friends and family who offered support during this difficult time.

David will be remembered for his outgoing personality, his quick wit and his ability to always make others laugh.
