Cowan, David Andre, passed away Sunday, June 5, 2016, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born September 3, 1926 in Paso Robles, California to David Roy and Lenna Mae (Andre) Cowan. David was a Geophysicist and worked for several oil companies as well as working as a consultant in the same field, domestic and overseas, including South America, Africa and Australia. He also served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and the Korean War, Active Duty from 1944 to 1947 and National Ready Reserve from 1947 to 1955.
David attended Avenal High School Class of 1944, in Avenal, California where he graduated in 1943 to join the Navy. He then attended Compton Junior College in Compton, California where he graduated with an Associate in Arts in 1949. Then he graduated with a Bachelor of Science from the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona, where he became an original member of the University of Arizona Alumni Association, Wildcats for Life. He was a member of the V.F.W Post #15037 and the American Legion Post #1. Also, he was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lenna Patricia Bourgoin; brothers, Carl Henry Cowan, and Roger Kent Cowan. Survived by his wife, Maria Velazquez Cowan; daughter, �Packy� Paquita V. Cowan from Tulsa, OK; daughter, Gina Marie (Shawn) Cowan-Morgan from Riverside, CA; sister, Jan Katherine (Gilberto, Sr) Gaona from Atascadero, CA; sister-in-law, Nancy Cowan from Tyler, TX; sister-in-law, Conchi Velazquez de Torres from Bonvista Tarragona , Spain and many other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the family to cover funeral expenses.
Services will be held at Asbury United Methodist Church, Tulsa, Oklahoma on Friday, June 17, 2016 at 10am, reception to follow.
