Obituary

David Joseph Hicks, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 5th, at the age of 84.

He was born on October 12, 1939, in Brandsville, Missouri, to Oscar and Elsie Hicks.
David was a proud graduate of Central High School, class of 1958. He pursued his passion for football at the University of Tulsa, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1963.

On July 8, 1961, he married the love of his life, Lois Litteral. Together, they raised three children: David, Karen, and Mike. David was a devoted father, leaving behind cherished memories for his children.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Lois Hicks, his son Mike Hicks, his parents Oscar and Elsie Hicks, as well as his brothers Lary and Gary Hicks, and his sister Anna Jean Dill.

David is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, David and Christa Hicks, his daughter Karen Lawson, and daughter-in-law Tonya Hicks. He was blessed with five grandchildren: Allison Lawson, Bryce Hicks, Rachel Hicks, Megan Hicks, and Braden Hicks, and three great-granddaughters: Rowan Billy, Norah Billy, and Mary Citrine Francis Hicks. His family will always cherish the memories of his loving presence.

Throughout his distinguished career as a mechanical engineer, David embarked on projects around the world, including the Alaska pipeline. He began his career at Dowell Chemical Company as a field engineer, eventually ascending to the role of district maintenance engineer. Later, he joined T.D. Williamson as a project engineer, retiring in 2006 from his position as Technical Services Manager.

David's passions extended beyond his professional life. An avid fan of TU football, he enjoyed attending games and supporting his alma mater. He dedicated many years to coaching basketball, baseball, and football during his children's school years, even serving as the director of basketball at Bird Junior High in the 1970s. His favorite pastime was fishing on Lake Tenkiller in his beloved fishing boat

David's legacy of love, kindness, and dedication will forever be remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing him.

A visitation will be held at 12:00 pm, followed by a service at 1:00 pm Tuesday, March 12, 2024, Moore's Southlawn Chapel, located at 9350 E 51st, Tulsa, Oklahoma.
