David Walter Poulton, 81, passed away April 4, 2026. David was born on December 26, 1944 in Venezuela, where his father worked in the oil business. He comes from a long line of Tulsans, and happily lived most of his life in Tulsa. After Fountain Valley Boarding School, David graduated from Parsons college and worked in the insurance industry, but his true passion was using his talents as a dog whisperer, armchair coach for the Sooners, and serving as the preeminent Professor of Rock and Roll. David also left everyone in the room laughing and waiting for his next comment.

David is survived by his beloved family: wife, Tammy; daughter, Amy Meyers (Charles); son, Matthew; stepdaughter, Lisa Fischer; grandsons, James, Benjamin and William Meyers; and sister, Mary Jo Wimbish (Jack) and many other extended family members. David valued kindness and family over all, and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

The Memorial Service will take place at St. John Episcopal Church, Tulsa, OK, June 5, 2026 at Noon. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the ASPCA or your local chapter.
