David Lee Turnbull of Tulsa, Oklahoma passed away Sunday, July 23, 2023. He was born April 17, 1950, in Sapulpa, Oklahoma to Kenneth and Catherine Turnbull.
David served in both the Marines and Army. David completed his service with the Marines in 1978 and went on to join the Army. During his time in the Army, he graduated from the John F. Kennedy School of Special Operations. He retired as a Captain in the US Army Reserves in 1998.
David had a degree from Northeastern State University, Southeastern Oklahoma State University and the University of Oklahoma. He had a love of learning and a passion for teaching others. He took his love of learning and used it to help others throughout his life. David was also an entrepreneur at heart and started
several businesses throughout his lifetime.
Any time you saw David he had a smile on his face and warm handshake. He was friendly and ready with a story and great conversation. David loved Lincoln cars, movies and music was always best played on a record player.
David was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Sr. and mother Catherine, his two brothers Kenneth Turnbull and Richard Turnbull. Survived by nieces, Patrice Samuels, Holly Hamilton, Kitt Letcher and nephews, Robert Turnbull, Matt Turnbull and David Turnbull, along with numerous great nieces and nephews.
Graveside service will be 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 16th, at Fort Gibson National Cemetery.
