Dean Troyer Portz, 98, passed away on June 19, 2018 in Plano, Texas. Dean was born in Columbus, Ohio in 1920 to Edgar Ernst Portz and Florence (Troyer) Portz. He graduated from High School in Columbus and attended two years at Ohio State University before enlisting in the armed services in 1943. In the Army Air Corp he achieved the rank of 2nd Lieutenant and flew B-17s, B-24s and B-25s from a base in Diss, England. He flew his requisite number of missions relatively unscathed.

During training in Mountain Home, Idaho he managed to meet a lovely woman from Utah named Maurine. They were married in 1944 and spent the rest of their lives together, settling in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Dean is predeceased by his youngest son, Scott who passed away in 1981.

He is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Maurine; two sons, Bruce (Susan) and Kevin (Joel) and two grandchildren, Trevor (Alicia) and Jeremy. A visitation will be held from 6-8pm Thursday, June 28, 2019 at Moore Southlawn Chapel in Tulsa. A graveside service will be held 10 am, Friday, June 29, 2018 at Memorial Park Cemetery in Tulsa.
