DeAnna
Stout
Oct 8, 1943 — Sep 26, 2026
DeAnna Stout, 82, of Beggs, Oklahoma, passed away on Saturday, September 26, 2026, in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Born on October 8, 1943, DeAnna grew up in Tulsa, spending much of her childhood with her beloved grandparents, Evert and Hettie Johnson. As a young girl, she loved escaping into her books, a passion that continued throughout her entire life. She cherished public libraries and almost always had a library book with her. She especially enjoyed true crime and history, and was always excited to discuss what she learned with others. DeAnna attended Tulsa Public Schools and she was proudly named Miss Will Rogers XXII in 1961.
DeAnna was a bright and talented executive secretary, who could confidently type over 100+ words a minute with no mistakes. But her real passion was always being around animals-especially horses and dogs. She used to visit the horse barns at the Tulsa State Fair as a young girl, and the love she felt for horses eventually led her to the rodeo, where she spent much of her time as a competitive barrel racer, earning many accolades throughout these years. She cared for her horses with her husband of over 35 years, Glenn Stout, and devoted much of her time to them as well as rescuing dogs, giving countless animals the love, care, and home they deserved. Her compassion for helpless animals was one of the clearest reflections of her big heart.
DeAnna had a strong life force - spirited, driven, independent - and always full of spice, sass, and orneriness, which we know she inherited from her dear momma, Pauline Johnson MacLean. She had a deep admiration for nature, and bought a copy of the Farmer's Almanac every year. She was enthralled by the natural beauty of our world, from a leaf changing colors to a glowing Oklahoma sunset to a full moon, which she often captured in photos and shared. When DeAnna cared about someone or something, she cared deeply. She loved meeting people and could and would talk to anyone, about almost any topic. She loved good conversation, her friends, and, above all, her family.
She was a loving mother to her two children, Leigh Ann and Michael, and a warm and adoring grandmother to her five grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, playing, singing and making up elaborate, detailed stories to tell them, or taking them to the movies. DeAnna loved the movies so much that those who knew her could often find her at the AMC theater in Tulsa, a Diet Coke in hand, where she could watch multiple showings in one day.
DeAnna will be remembered for her strength, her vibrant personality and the fierce love she had for the people and animals fortunate enough to be part of her life. She lived with determination, loved with her whole heart, and was never afraid to be exactly who she was. Her family and friends will carry forward these countless memories. We will miss her.
DeAnna is survived by her husband, Glenn Stout; her daughter, Leigh Ann Moss, and son-in-law, Eric Sherburn, of Tulsa; her grandchildren, Madeleine Sherburn of New York City, Claire Sherburn of St. Louis, and Henry Sherburn of Tulsa; her son, Michael Moss, and daughter-in-law, Tammy Moss, of Overland Park, Kansas; and her granddaughters, Hallie Moss of Tulsa and Sadie Moss of Overland Park.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that you consider making a donation to the Tulsa SPCA in honor of DeAnna and her love for animals. Your gift directly provides food, shelter, veterinary care, and love to every animal in their care while they wait for their forever home.
