Deanne (Dee) Brewster McBride, 73, passed away on Friday, January 12, 2018 in Tulsa, OK. She was born May 29, 1944 in Miami, OK to the late Albert Edward (Jake) Brewster, Jr. and Faye Maxine Lewis Brewster.
Dee graduated from Miami High School and Oklahoma State University. After a 30-year career as a librarian in Tulsa Public Schools Dee began a second career as a volunteer in The Tulsa City County Library System. At Nathan Hale Library a book cart was dedicated in her name in honor of her 10,000 hours of service; and a library specific printer was dedicated in her name in honor of her 10,500 hours of service. At Tulsa City-County Library's 43rd Annual Volunteer Recognition Event in 2017 Deanne received an award for 20 years and 12,000 hours of volunteer service. In all, Deanne volunteered 12,588 hours at Herman and Kate Kaiser and Nathan Hale Libraries. She was also a longtime member of Asbury United Methodist Church, Tulsa.
Dee was a tender-hearted dog lover, an avid reader and a collector of beautiful things. She loved and was loved by everyone she met. Her most frequent companions were The Step Sisters, the women she tapped danced, dined, shopped, shared, celebrated and traveled with for 20 years.
Deanne is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Daryl McBride; son, Joe McBride and his wife, Tracy; grandchild, Trevor McBride; step-grandchildren, Jazmyne Green and Nathan Lawrence; sister-in-law, Judy Bording and her husband, Mike; many dear and close friends, and her precious, Scotties Duchess and Patches.
Viewing will be from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and the family will be present for visitation from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, January 18, at Moore's Southlawn, 9350 E. 51st, in Tulsa. Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 19, 2018, at Moore's Southlawn Chapel.
