Deborah "Debbie" Jean Mizell, 76, of Tulsa, OK, passed away on August 24, 2024. Debbie was born to Wilimae Murray Cross on September 24, 1947. She was raised in Coweta, OK with her two brothers, Doug & Richard. Coweta is also where she met her true love, James "Jim" Cagle Mizell. After graduation in 1965, Debbie attended Eastern State College, then became a Cosmetologist. Jim and Debbie married in 1967 and moved to Memphis, TN where Jim attended Medical School. They later returned to Tulsa where they raised three daughters, Tressi, Brecka, and Amber. Debbie and Jim became members of Asbury Church in 1972 and helped found Faithbuilders Discipleship Class that has met every Sunday morning since 1984. Debbie was an active member of the Asbury Women in Mission (AWM) and served as president for two terms.
Debbie had many interests and hobbies, art being her favorite. She attended The University of Tulsa and became a gifted artist and docent for many years. Sports was also at the top of her list. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan and loved following her grandchildren in whatever sporting event or activity they were involved in.
Debbie was preceded in death by her mother Wilimae Murray-Cross, brother Richard Murray and beautiful daughter Amber Mizell Rogers. She leaves behind her loving husband Jim Mizell, brother Doug Collins, daughter Tressi Mizell, daughter Brecka Bagby and husband Ryan, granddaughter Madde Lauritsen and fiance Caleb, granddaughter Sophie Bagby, granddaughter Mia Bagby, grandson Sam Maybee and others she considers family, Ryan Park, Keni Jo Burns, and Blade Lippe.
Debbie leaves behind a legacy of faithfulness and love along with a lifetime of kindness. To express sympathy, the family asks that remembrances be made to AWM in Debbie's memory to continue missions.
Debbie's life will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at 11 AM at Asbury Church. Her viewing will be Monday, August 26, 2024 from 5 PM to 7 PM at Moore Funeral Home.
Honorary Pallbearers are Ryan Bagby, Caleb Stirewalt, Sam Maybee, Ryan Park and Blade Lippe.
