Deborah Suzanne "Debbie" Nelson, a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and decorated veteran, went to be with her Lord on July 29th, 2026, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. A woman of profound faith, immense kindness, and boundless love, Debbie leaves behind a legacy of service, family devotion, and a life lived to the fullest.

Born on May 2nd,1958 in Tulsa, Debbie was a gifted athlete from a young age. She attended Memorial High School and Edison High School, later receiving her GED with high honors. During her school years, she was known for her speed and agility, particularly as a speed skater at the Empire Roller Rink in Tulsa. Her athletic prowess continued into adulthood, where she proudly played softball for the United States Army.

Debbie's commitment to her country was unwavering. She joined the U.S. Army in 1976, dedicating herself to a long and distinguished military career. She served with honor and distinction, earning a combat badge for her service in Grenada, and was honorably discharged as Staff Sargent. Following her military career, Debbie pursued higher education with the University of Phoenix, earning her bachelor's degree in computer science before continuing her life of service and hard work with the Tulsa Police Department and American Airlines.

A devout Christian, Debbie was a faithful member of the Church on the Hill in Tulsa. While her family and friends grieve at her passing deeply, they find profound comfort in knowing she is now at peace with her Lord.

Debbie is survived by her children, Charmain Ware-Jason and Brandan Ellis; her cherished grandchildren, A'mirah Ellis and Kai Ellis; her loving brothers Craig Nelson, Jeff Nelson, and Wesley Nelson; a niece, Savannah Nelson; daughter-in-law Janeen Jason, and a host of extended family and friends who will miss her dearly.

Her memory will forever be a blessing to all who knew her.

A visitation will be held for Debbie on Wednesday, August 5, 2026 from 4:00PM to 7:00PM at Moore Southlawn Chapel. Her funeral service will be on Thursday, August 6, 2026 at 10:00AM at Moore Southlawn Chapel.
