Debra Ann Smotherman
Born on April 1949 in Miami, Oklahoma to William and Jannie Smotherman died on January 11th, 2026 in Tulsa Oklahoma. Preceded in death by her parents, and brother Dennis Smotherman.
Survived by sister in law, Brenda Smotherman and nieces, Catherine and her husband Jeff Hitchcock, Chrissy Smotherman, and Sara Smotherman and her children Orion and Tallulah Phillips.
Debra graduated from Owasso High School and received a Bachelors degree in Spanish from ORU. She retired as a Social Worker for the State of Oklahoma.
Deb enjoyed traveling and circled the globe to Russia, Norway, Alaska, Hawaii, Mexico, the Caribbean, Italy, Spain, the UK, Germany, Egypt, and National Parks in the USA. Mesa Verde, Colorado was her favorite destination of all.
She enjoyed the art, culture, music, and food from around the world, making new friends wherever she went. Her first language, English, was soon to be followed by Spanish at ORU, and then German She was always educating herself, reading, playing video games, and caring for her many cats, dogs, rats, and opossums. Debra was an accomplished pianist and artist. She collected pocket knives, turtles, artwork, and matchbooks. Her Wyandotte and Cherokee heritage made her proud as she enjoyed studying her lineage and genealogy.
Above all, Debra loved her family and friends. She led her own journey, not one to be a follower, true to herself, and where her Spirit took her.
