Dennis J. Hartney died Feb. 1, 2017 at the age of 56. He was born on Aug. 5, 1960 in Hominy, OK to Dennis P. and Norma Levitt Hartney. He married Kelly Stout on July 3, 1982 in Tulsa. His parents and wife survive. He retired from the FAA after 29 years as an air traffic controller. He was raised in the Catholic faith.

In addition to his parents and wife, he is survived by two sons Brian Hartney and Chris Hartney and his wife Katelin; a daughter Elizabeth Hartney and her fiance, Abel Aguilar, Jr.; a brother Michael Hartney; a sister Jennifer Sherman and her husband Curt; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was an avid sports fan and officiated everything from football to lacrosse. He was an active member and held leadership roles in multiple refereeing associations. In 2015, he received an award for 25 years of service with GTOA and last year he was proud to become an official with the American Conference.

A service celebrating Dennis' life will be held on Monday, February 6, 2017 at 10:00 AM, Moore's Southlawn Chapel, 9350 E. 51st St., Tulsa, OK 74145.
