Obituary

Diana Dunsby Salisbury, age 90, passed away at her Tulsa home January 25. Affectionately known as Lady Di by her friends, she was born in present day Pakistan to a British colonel and his wife on September 16, 1924. While serving in the British Army during WWII, she met a young American GI, Ival Bert Salisbury.
They were married but soon separated by D-Day. After the war, Ival returned to Howard, Kansas where he sent for his bride who left the cool climate of England for the heat and rigors of a midwestern farm via Ellis Island.
A couple of years later they moved to Tulsa, where they started a family and put down permanent roots. Diana retired from JC Penney after 12 years of service. Ival retired from American Airlines, and preceded Diana in death on January 25, 1988, the same day on which Diana would follow some 27 years later.
A woman of joy and optimism, she was a three-time survivor of cancer, and a lover of life and of people to her last breath. She was loved by all, and adored by her children, their spouses, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Her son Donald Brian and his daughter Jennifer Furgerson were awaiting her arrival in heaven with Ival on Sunday as were her sister Lenore, her brother Bill and numerous friends.
She is survived by her son John and his wife Sandy of Grand Prairie, Texas, her daughter Linda Busch and her husband Chris of Tulsa, along with five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and one great-great grandson.
Her legacy is infused with love, joy, and hope. We will always love you, Mom!
