BARKETT -- Diane Lee " Dee Ann" and "Dee" (Browning), passed away peacefully on October 12, 2018. She was born on July 24, 1932 in Bartlesville, OK. Diane and her sister Janice grew up in Dewey and Tulsa, Oklahoma with their parents Charles "Brownie" and Imogene Browning. Diane graduated from Tulsa Will Rogers High School in 1950. She attended Oklahoma A&M University where she studied business and worked as a model.
A gifted artist, Diane specialized in portraits using pastels and colored pencils. Many beautiful souls have been immortalized by the talented artwork of Diane. She married Major John Lee Stewart in the mid 1950s and became an Air Force wife living in Alaska, Florida, and back to Oklahoma. Major Stewart was tragically killed in service in 1963. From that marriage Diane had a daughter Teresa and son John "Jack." Diane married Woodrow Frank Barkett in Oklahoma City in 1967. From that marriage she had a son Michael.
Diane worked for Tulsa County and retired in 1998. Diane defined the word "altruism." She helped and cared for so many others during her lifetime and never sought recognition or praise. Her empathy for those in need was unsurpassed. She was selfless. She is predeceased by her mother and father Charles and Imogene Browning, her son John Charles Stewart, and her sister Janice O'Brien.
She is survived by her daughter Teresa Coakley and her husband John of Alachua, Florida, and her two grandsons Jason and Warren Juall. She is also survived by her son Michael Barkett and his wife Cassie of Tulsa, Oklahoma and her three granddaughters Zoe, Edee, and Sunny Barkett.
Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 14 at Moore's Funeral Home, Rosewood Chapel, 2570 S. Harvard, Tulsa, OK. Trisagion service will be at 6:00 p.m. Sunday October 14 at Moore's. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. at St. Antony Orthodox Christian Church, 2645 E. 6th Street, Tulsa, OK.
