Diane K. Carleton, age 80, of Wagoner, Oklahoma, peacefully passed away on June 17, 2024, in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Diane was born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to her loving parents, John and Eileen Kopenhagen, alongside her older brother, David Kopenhagen. She graduated from Central High School in Tulsa and worked at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, where she met and married John D. Carleton, Jr. of Oklahoma City. Diane earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Oklahoma City University.
After dedicating herself to raising their children, Alan Carleton and Amy (Carleton) Cantrell, Diane retired from Memorial Baptist Church to care for her beloved husband, John, during his battle with Alzheimer's disease. Following John's passing, Diane enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren: Jacob, Elizabeth, and Gracie.
Later in life, Diane married Larry Clayton of Inola, Oklahoma, with whom she enjoyed traveling and spending time with friends, especially during winters in Florida.
Diane was preceded in death by her parents, John and Eileen Kopenhagen; her brother, David Kopenhagen; her husband, John D. Carleton, Jr.; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bob and Shirley Robinson; her niece, Teri Robinson; and her nephew, David Robinson. She is survived by her husband, Larry Clayton of Inola; her children: Alan and Leann Carleton of Muskogee, and Michael and Amy Cantrell of Wagoner; her stepsons, Jerry Clayton and Lee Clayton, both of Inola; her niece, Susan Robinson of Texas; and her grandchildren, Jacob Cantrell, Elizabeth Cantrell, and Gracie Carleton.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 20th, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM, and a memorial service will take place on Friday, June 21st, 2024, at 2:00 PM, both at Moore Southlawn in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
