After a battle with cancer, Dianne Shields-Colvin died on September 12, 2019, in Bartlesville, OK at The Journey Home at the age of 75. She leaves behind her partner of 30 years, Samuel Parker; her daughter, Victoria Lee McGarvey; her sons, Scott Neaderhiser, Jeffery Craig Parker, Marty Drake Colvin, and Trey Austin Colvin.
Dianne was born on March 9, 1944, in Salina, KS, to father Leo Edward Shields and mother Dorothy Louise (Switzer) Vocasek, who predeceased her. She grew up in a loving family with two brothers, Larry Edward Shields and Michael Craig Shields.
Dianne graduated from Lincoln High School in Lincoln, NE. She went to business school in Hutchinson, KS and received her nursing certification in 1981. Dianne was an in-home caregiver for VNA in Tulsa, OK until 2004 when she retired.
Dianne was a retired Compassionate Caregiver with a secret love of romance novels and love for family. When diagnosed with cancer in 2019, she remained dedicated to her will to fight her illness. She remained a brave, iron-willed woman, even throughout her final months.
Dianne is survived by her partner and children, as well as her brother, Michael Craig Shields; numerous nieces and nephews; her grandchildren, Connor Colvin, Tristen Reed, Ainsley Colvin, Lilly Colvin, Sophie Colvin, Austin Colvin, Terry McGarvey, Cameron Cauthon, Aiden and Josh Neaderhiser. She is preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Larry Edward Shields.
Dianne requested to donate her body to science. Services for her will occur at a later date. A special thanks to Compassus Hospice and to the Journey Home for caring for Dianne in her last days.
