Obituary

Dolores Marie Sturdevant (Dee), passed away peacefully on January 6, 2023, at the age of 96. Dee was born on September 14, 1926 to Charles and Esther Knapp in Gridley, Kansas. She grew up with her brothers and sister on the family farm in Coffey County, KS. Following high school graduation in Gridley, Dee moved to Wichita to work at a Boeing factory during WWII, doing her part to win the war.

After the war ended, her father drove Dee to Kansas State University where she majored in Home Economics and Journalism. There, on a blind date to a college dance, she met (Bill) William Sturdevant. They were married February 12, 1950. She and Bill continued to be generous lifetime supporters of Kansas State.

Bill's career moved them to the oil fields of Oklahoma. The young couple moved to Healdton, then Seminole and finally to Tulsa in 1954 where they raised their three girls. Dee volunteered at school and church events and truly made a home for her family. She loved sewing, quilting and gardening. She was a member of the P.E.O. women's organization in Tulsa.

Bill and Dee were charter members at John Calvin Presbyterian Church. Through the years, Dee served in several leadership roles. They forged many lifelong friendships through church and enjoyed golf and bridge club outings. Following retirement, Bill and Dee became volunteers with the Garnett Road Meals on Wheels. For 29 years they delivered meals and Dee served as Treasurer.

Dee was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Bill, in 2017. Also by her daughter and son-in-law Suzie and Dennis Muehe of Spring, TX and daughter Julie Jobe (husband Mitch) of Tulsa. Her surviving daughter is Lynda Morrison of McKinney, TX. She has five grandchildren- Kristin Sinclair (husband Bill); Matthew Muehe (wife Natali); Kyle Morrison; Jill Vivion (husband Jody); Jackie McCart (husband Eric). Great grandchildren include Ali Muehe; Jocelyn Vivion; Everett Sinclair; Will Muehe; James Vivion. Dee and Bill always had a special bond with Dee's siblings- Al and June Knapp; Norman and Bonnie Knapp; Ruth and Sam Benton; Roy and Judi Knapp.

Dee will be dearly missed by her family, as well as by many friends and fellow church and community members.
