ADAMS, DONALD D. 91
Donald (Don) was born in Driftwood, OK on November, 21st 1925 and died on September 21st, 2017 in Tulsa, OK. He was the oldest child of five born to Ralph and Maud (Morgan) Adams. He earned a BA, Magna Cum Laude, with majors in Business and History, at Southwestern College, Winfield, KS in 1951 and served in the US Army, including combat duty with the Third Infantry Division, in Korea in 1952.
Via the GI Bill he obtained a Masters in accounting from Oklahoma State in 1954 and worked for 48 years as an accountant and controller. He was a member of the Tulsa Chapter of CPA's and the Institute of Management Accountants, where he served on the Board and as president in 1971. He also served the Tulsa University Conference of Accountants and was Chairman in 1974.
He met wife, Lois Miller, at YAF singles at Boston Avenue United Methodist Church in Tulsa. They celebrated their 50th anniversary on July 26, 2008. At Boston Avenue Don served on the Administrative Board and on the Continuing Education Committee. He also served as Treasurer of the Homebuilders Class for 40 years. But he was most proud of his role as shepherd in the Christmas Eve Service for fifteen years. .
He is survived by two sons: Douglas Adams, and wife Julie, of Albuquerque, NM, and Kevin Adams of Atlanta, GA. Two daughters: Twila Rios, and husband, Art, of New York City, and Lori Daskam, and husband Steve, of McKinney, TX. Five Grandchildren: Aaron Adams, Amy Adams, Anna Adams, Emma Daskam and Will Daskam. Three brothers: John Adams, Harold Adams and Roger Adams
One sister: Lois Carson. Also many nieces and nephews and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Lois Adams.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the General Endowment Fund at Boston Avenue or the Oklahoma Methodist Manor. A memorial service will be held at Boston Avenue Rose Chapel at 10:00 AM on September 30th. Interment will be in the Columbarium at Boston Avenue.
