Donald Joseph Iverson, 87, of Tulsa, OK passed away Sunday, April 14, 2013.
He was born February 5, 1926 in Tulsa, OK to William Joseph Iverson and Ethel Dorothy (Whitmer) Iverson. Don was active in Boy Scouts and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout from Troop 37 in May 1941. He graduated Will Rogers High School Class of '44, and then proudly served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. He attended the University of Tulsa and went on to graduate in Architectural Engineering from Oklahoma State University in January 1951.
He was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity at both TU & OSU. He went to work for John Zink Company in 1951 retiring as a Senior Sales Consultant after 43 years. Don was a long-time Deacon at First Christian Church in Tulsa and was a member of the Double Ring Sunday School Class.
Don married Barbara Joan Wolfe on January 2, 1954. He was preceded in death by parents, William & Ethel Iverson; and sister, Judy VanScoy.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Barbara Iverson; son, Mike Iverson and wife, Loretta of Tulsa, OK; daughters Kim Stansell of Broken Arrow, OK and Nanci Brown and husband, James of Flower Mound, TX; Grandchildren, Michelle (Jonathan) Knott, Kyle (Autumn) Iverson, Ian Stansell, Morgan Brown, Isaac Stansell; Great Grandchildren, Amelia & Julia Knott, Halla & Lailie Iverson; Nephews, Bill (Debbie) VanScoy & Dave VanScoy.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made Saint Francis Hospice, First Christian Church Endowment or the charity of your choice.
