Born Donna Jeane McNeil, to parents James Ely and Beatrice May (Hodgkinson) on February 2, 1932, in a log cabin in the hill country of Green Forest, Arkansas. The family moved around the northwest parts of Arkansas and Oklahoma, living briefly in Eureka Springs, Sand Springs, and Nalogony. She graduated school and went to St John's Hospital and began nurses training. Jeane worked there as a surgical nurse until she retired in 1996 having been there 46 years. She always had a caring heart. Co-workers would reveal later on when patients coming out of surgery had no one with them she would sit with them and comfort them while in recovery. She was a very hard worker and in early years had an almost photographic memory. She was fond of quoting one of her grandfather's sayings, "Once a job has begun, never leave it till it's done. Be the labor great or small, do it well or not at all." She was proud as a child of having a horse that wouldn't let anyone else ride him. She also loved to play cards, read, and do all kinds of puzzles.
Jeane was preceded in death by her two sisters, Betty Fennell and Billie Tabor, husband James Lee Clifford, daughter Terri Lynn Heskett, and son David Lee Clifford, and great-grandson, Xavier Alexander. She is survived by her son, James Alan Clifford (Carrie), of Claremore, and grandchildren, Jami Cunningham (Josh), Kaci McElhannon (Rich), Brandy Alexander, Robert Ward (Stephanie), Gary Ward, Guy Beldon (Amanda), Brandon Clifford, and Katy Clifford.
