Donna Lea Headrick, our beloved sweet mom, nanny, aunt and friend transitioned peacefully to her heavenly home on June 20, 2023 at the age of 91 in Sapulpa, Oklahoma.
Donna was born on March 26, 1932 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Matt and Beulah Busse. She was raised in a devout Catholic home with her sister, Carolyn and two brothers Charlie and Tommy. In 1950, Donna graduated from Marquette High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She shortly met the love of her life, Don Headrick, and they were married on February 14, 1953. They enjoyed forty-nine years together while raising their three children until Don went to his heavenly home in 2002.
Donna was a happy homemaker. They were a sports active family. She loved being alongside her husband at every child's baseball, softball, and basketball games. In fact, they received a plaque for perfect attendance during one softball season. Because Donna was such a kind, gentle, sweet, loving woman, many of her family found it funny that going to the stock car races was one of her favorite things to do. She also enjoyed setting up at the Tulsa Flea Market with her husband every Saturday. They met so many friends there and had such a great time. Donna was a home body. She would walk a mile every morning and along the way pick up cans to turn into cash. That was her way of having fun each morning and keeping the neighborhood clean. She loved her grand children and babysat many of them through the years. Many family members also asked her to babysit because she had such a love for children and was so precious with them. In Donna's latter years, she lived in assisted living and every person that took care of her always commented on her smile and laughter and what a joy she was to have as a resident. She never complained but always had a smile on her face and giggled all the time. We will greatly miss her and her giggle.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and siblings. She is survived by her three children, Teri Headrick Hux and husband Dino, Mike Headrick and wife Jamie, and Anita Headrick, five grandchildren Aaron Hux, Amy Hux Worthington (Jeremy), Derek Headrick, Dustin Headrick, Ryan Headrick (Casey), six great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be held on Sunday, June 25, 2023 at Moore's Southlawn Chapel located at 9350 E. 51st St. in Tulsa, OK. The family will be present from 3:00 - 4:00 p.m. Memorial service will be held at the same location on Monday, June 26, 2023 at 10:00 a.m.
