Obituary

Dora Evelyn Rennie Schein, born in Ponca City on January 9, 1940 and long-time resident of Tulsa, died Thursday, June 7, 2018 at the age of 78. Graveside services will be Thursday, June 14, at 10 a.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5111 S. Memorial Drive. A Memorial Service will follow at 11 a.m. at Fellowship Lutheran Church, 6727 S. Sheridan Road. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Moore Funeral Home Southlawn Chapel 9350 E. 51st St.

Dora was the ever-present scorekeeper in South Tulsa baseball, soccer and any other sport her three boys participated in. She knew stats on dozens of boys on different teams as they grew from gangly tee-ball scroungers to high-school starters. And she always reveled in their success from childhood through adulthood. She was there for the boys, but more importantly, she was there for her boys.

Dora graduated from Oklahoma State University with a degree in accounting. While at OSU, she was a member of Kappa Delta sorority and remained active for many years afterward. After graduation, she worked for Skelly Oil as one of the first women in the accounting department - beginning in Kansas City and later in Tulsa, where she ran into her friend from OSU, Robert Dean Schein. They married in 1965. He rose through the ranks of a Big Eight accounting firm before launching his own accounting firm in 1974. She balanced being the firm's Office Manager while also raising their three boys. She was the first to volunteer for Homeroom Mom or Cub Scout Den Mother for all.

Dora loved to play bridge and was active in her church throughout her life. She also loved to travel, especially her Alaskan cruises and supporting her OSU Cowboys football teams. Late in life, she was able to bring all of her kids and grandkids to all the OSU bowl games. Laughing that it was her way to indoctrinate her family to become fellow OSU alums, she really enjoyed the games and her time with the family. Nevertheless, it worked. Already, she has one grandchild graduated from OSU, another is attending, and several more have their sights set firmly on wearing the orange and black.

Dora's life was full and her family celebrates all the joy she brought to friends and family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Oklahoma Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association ( www.alz.org/oklahoma ) or the Fellowship Lutheran Church ( www.flctulsa.org ).

Survivors include her husband, Robert (Tulsa); sons, Christopher (Plano, Texas) and his wife Nancy, Scott (Broken Arrow) and his wife Kim, and Matthew (Oklahoma City) and his wife Darcy; brother, Bill Rennie (Ponca City); sister-in-law Bernice Nithman (Oklahoma City) and her husband, Chuck. She had seven grandchildren: Kate and Andrew (Oklahoma City), Austin and Tyler (Tulsa), and Madison, Trent, and Brett (Plano). She was preceded in death by her parents, Roberta and Gilbert Rennie (Ponca City). Moore's Southlawn 918-663-2233 share memories at www.moorefuneral.com
