Doris Jean Stanton passed away on February 4th, 2026, in Tulsa, Oklahoma a month and 2 days after her 93rd birthday.

Born January 2nd, 1933, in El Dorado, Kansas, Doris was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, neighbor and friend. She never missed an opportunity to create cherished memories on special occasions and holidays alike for her family. Doris had an amazing talent capturing many of those memories in beautiful scrapbooks she created from scratch. As noted on a handmade business card from her husband, Vern, Doris also had a knack as somewhat of a 'personal shopper', with an expertise in a variety of things such as baskets, antiques, teddy bears, buttons, books.... just to name a few.

While working at the local soda shop in El Dorado, Kansas, Doris met her future husband, Vernon 'Vern' Dale Stanton. In 1951 they were married and soon welcomed daughters Sandy and Sherri.

Doris is survived by her loving daughters, Sandy Lewis (Bruce, deceased), of Georgetown, Ontario, Canada, and Sherri Wingo, of Tulsa; her grandchildren, Shalon of Georgetown, Ontario, Canada, and Brandon (Gina), of Tulsa; and Great Grandchildren, Dalanie and Braydon, both of Tulsa.

Doris was predeceased by her parents Emma Marie Payne and James Otis Adams; brother Richard Adams, and sister Dorothy Ann (Adams) LaPorte; and her soulmate whom she is now and forever reunited with, Vernon 'Vern' Dale Stanton.

Doris is already and will always be deeply missed. Those left behind to remember and cherish the beautiful memories she was integral in creating are blessed to have had her in our lives.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, February 12th at 1:00 pm, central time at Moore Southlawn Chapel, 9350 E 51st St, Tulsa, Oklahoma 918-663-2233.
