Doris Ann (Beeler) Thornton, 73 of Jenks, Oklahoma, she passed peacefully at her home on February 19, 2025, into the arms of Jesus.
Born on July 1, 1951, in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Ernest and Lillie Marie (Eaton) Beeler. She was the middle sister of John William, Joyce Ann, and Ernestine. Doris met the love of her life Terry Allen Thornton while in middle school at Cherokee Middle School in Turley, Oklahoma. They were married on January 3, 1969, making their home in Tulsa. Terry was a soldier in the US Army, while fighting in the Vietnam War lost his life months after the arrival of their daughter, Angela Ann.
Doris graduated from McClain High School in 1969. She went on and became a successful business owner and retired from Cross Creek Learning Center as the 4-year-old teacher. She was a long-time member of Newspring Family Church in Jenks, Oklahoma, where she was always available to volunteer.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Terry Allen Thornton, her parents Ernest and Marie Beeler, brother John William Beeler, sister Joyce Ann Holland, brother -in-law David, grandson, Ryan Robert Marris, son-in-law Bobby Gene Marris, great granddaughters, Lakia Ann Marris-Tabbytite, Shay Marris, nephews Karl Lester Holland, and Thomas William Jarvis.
Doris is survived by her daughter, Angela Marris of Okmulgee, Pamela Powell of Jenks, grandson, Blake Thornton and wife Rachel of Bixby, Jason Powell and wife Jolene of Adair, Teri Marris and partner Daniel Tabbytite of Okmulgee, James Powell of Bristow, Tyler Marris and wife Rachel of Okmulgee, great grandchildren Alexis, Rylin, Braxton, Parker, Payton Thornton, Wyatt and Josie Powell, James Powell, Jr, Olivia Marris, Harper and Haydon Harding, and Zavier Tabbytite. Her sister Tina Rose and husband Mike of Morris, and numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
Memorial Service will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 7th at Newspring Family Church 2907 W. 108th Pl., Jenks, OK.
