We gather together today to honor the life of our dear friend, Doris June Wynne. Doris was born on June 23, 1918, in Ft. Smith, Arkansas, the daughter of Mr. Glenn Davis Wynne and Lula Mae Wynne. She had one younger brother who was killed in World War II. Doris, 97, passed away peacefully on September 1st, 2015. Her family moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma when she was a young child and she attended Tulsa Schools, graduating from Central High School with the class of 1937. After graduation, Doris took several business courses at the University of Tulsa. Her professional career of over 50 years was as a secretary with several Oil companies in Tulsa. She loved her business career and made many strong friendships with her associates.
Doris was a member of the Assembly of God Church at 5th and Peoria, where she filled in as secretary after her retirement. Doris had a great love for music and was blessed with a beautiful voice. She sang for several years in a trio in the Oral Roberts Ministry.
Doris lived in the family home until the death of her father, age 101, and her mother, age 98. Doris loved to entertain and hosted many functions and parties in her home. She was active in her church and was loved by all. She trusted Christ as her Savior as a young girl and was a strong believer in prayer. Doris was a GREAT PRAYER Warrior. She lived in Country Club of Woodland Hills for 6 years before moving to University Village Retirement Center.
Doris is preceded in death by a very special long time friend, Normajean Kilgore of Muskogee, Oklahoma, and all of Norma's family. Also, very special neighbors and friends Brad and Cynthia Robinson and their son, Kien. She loved all breeds of dogs, but particularly Dachshunds. She raised 3, all named Nancy. The last dog lived nearly 19 years. They were well taken care of and well loved.
