Dorothy Mae Billings died April 7, 2026. Dorothy was born on May 4, 1932 in Charleston, Arkansas. She was the daughter of David Samuel and Margaret Edna Tobey. She was preceded in death by her parents, also brothers, David Tobey, Jr, Herbert Tobey, and Ray Tobey; sisters, Virginia Tobey, Lucille Tobey, and Juanita Caton.
She is survived by her husband, Harold; daughter, Lisa Vanlandingham and husband Barrett; grandchildren, Ashton, Gracie, and Britton Vanlandingham; brothers, Harold Tobey and Ken Tobey.
Dorothy graduated from Charleston High School in 1951. After high school she moved to Tulsa and attended business school. She worked for several local companies, including National Bank of Tulsa, American Airlines, and Sun Oil Company. She graduated from Roberts Beauty School and worked for several local salons. Her hobbies included sewing and decorating and she was once an avid tennis player.
She loved to travel. Some of the highlights of her family vacations included Florida, Washington DC, Niagara Falls, Martha's Vineyard, Mexico City, and Acapulco.
Her life was centered around church and family. She was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ, and was involved in all the church activities. She performed in a singing group called "Tulsa Christian Chorus" which recorded several records and once performed with Pat Boone at a Christian college. She was a confirmed people person and was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother to her family. Her passing leaves a void in many lives.
A public viewing will take place on Thursday, April 16th from 5:00-8:00pm (with the family there from 5:00-7:00pm) at Moore Funeral Home-Southlawn Chapel, 9350 E. 51st Street, Tulsa, Oklahoma 74145.
Funeral service to honor and celebrate her life will be on Friday, April 17th at 11:00am at The Park Church of Christ in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
