Dorothy Geddie, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and Sunday School teacher, went home to meet Jesus and be with her husband and son on April 2, 2024 at the golden age of 98. Born on March 31, 1926, in Tulsa Oklahoma, Dorothy lived a life of generosity, compassion and unwavering faith in Jesus Christ. She touched the lives of all that knew her with her kind heart, cheerful smile, joyful laughter, and encouraging words. Dorothy was a devoted wife to the love of her life, her late husband Herschel Geddie, and they shared over 70 years of cherished memories together. Dorothy and Herschel were blessed with two loving children Elaine and Steve, in whom she instilled the values of kindness, faith, compassion, and service to others.
Dorothy was a nurturer to all she came in contact with. When Elaine married Jim and Steve married Dee Dee, she loved her son-in-law and daughter-in-law as though they were her own. Dorothy was also a proud grandmother, to Laura, Susan, Michael and Stephanie, finding immense joy in caring for her grandchildren. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren participate in their extracurricular activities, special events and church programs. During her 98 years, Dorothy had the privilege to be a loving part of her great-grandchildren's lives: MacKenzie, Malcolm, Caleb, Lucas and the newest great-grandchild, Margot. Dorothy has a special place in her heart for her children's friends who became family, especially Tasha and Joanne.
Throughout her life, Dorothy was deeply committed to serving her church family. She had a passion for teaching children about Jesus and served as a children's Sunday School teacher for over 55 years. Her mission work in the US and abroad as well as her years of service in the children's department and Memorial Baptist, touched countless lives and left an indelible mark on the hearts of those in her presence. Her generosity knew no bounds, and her selflessness inspired all who knew her.
Dorothy will be remembered for her love of animals, her passion for sweets, and her unwavering faith. Her gentle spirit and warm smile brightened even the darkest of days, and her legacy of love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. Dorothy Geddie's life was a testament to the power of love, kindness, and compassion, and her legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.
Dorothy is now joining her late husband Herschel Geddie, beloved son Steve Geddie in heaven. The loving family that she leaves behind are her daughter and son-in-law Elaine and Jim Bates, her kind daughter-in-law Dee Dee Geddie, with her wonderful grandchildren and great-grandchildren: French, Laura, MacKenzie and Malcolm Scott; Susan Bates; Michael, Stephanie, Caleb and Lucas Geddie; Blake, Stephanie and Margot German.
