For some ten years, Dorothy worked in the Vinita Public Schools as a music teacher in grades 1-6. Activities included many years as a choir member with the Methodist Church, sometimes as soloist and sometime as director. Under the guidance of her mother, Bertha Jacoby, who was a librarian, she and the members of the Vinita Friends of the Library catalogued the collection of books to the Dewey Decimal System. Genealogy was a longtime hobby, so Dorothy helped clerk the project to microfilm the early Cherokee Nation/Craig County records when the Mormons came to Vinita. She was chairman for publishing "Craig County History, People and Places" Volume One.

Dorothy was twice named as Outstanding Citizen by the Vinita Chamber of Commerce. Other activities included 25 years with the Camp Fire organization, AAUW, DAR and more than 50 years in the P.E.O. sisterhood. Dorothy moved to Tulsa in 2001. She was active in Tulsa's Boston Avenue Methodist Church, a member of Tulsa Genealogical Society, Friends of the Library, member of P.E.O. and the Tulsa NEATS organization.

Dorothy took great joy and pride in her family.
