Dorothy Lee Thayer was born April 10, 1945, in Ft. Worth Texas to James Coursey Cummins and Dorothy Lee Fenley. Our Dorothy was named for her mother who died shortly after giving birth. She spent her early years cared for by her fraternal grandmother in Gainesville, Texas before going to live with her father following his remarriage.
After graduating high school in Pryor, Oklahoma, Dorothy moved to Tulsa and begin a long and successful personal career. She truly came alive with the challenges and excitement of the work environment. As she approached 60 years of age Dorothy decided retirement was not for her. She started college and received her Bachelor of Science in Business / Accounting on May 31, 2006, and then Graduated With Honors with a Master of Business Administration on August 31, 2007.
Dorothy married Donald W Thayer on October 31, 1970. At home Dorothy dedicated herself to being the best wife and homemaker possible. Throughout her married life she loved and cared for numerous pets.
Our Dorothy is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Donald W Thayer; sister-in-law Barbara Gail Brown and her husband George A. Brown; nephew Kevin Brown; nieces Jennifer Davis, Katie Allen and Sarah Jordan as well as five great-nephews and nieces. She is also survived by a half sister Mary Kay Perez.
Dorothy was a well read student of the Bible and followed it's teachings to live a Christian life in words and deeds. Dorothy was baptized May 28th of this year.
