Dorothy Jane Thomas lived a long and wonderful life. Dorothy passed away March 5, 2018 at the age of 100. Dorothy was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma to John Benjamin and Nancy Coffey McCully on August 14, 1917. She attended Central High School where she met her future husband E. L. (Tommy) Thomas. They married after high school and were married for seventy-eight years until his death in 2015.
Dorothy was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She and Tommy loved to travel all over the world, dancing, and anything they could do together. Dorothy played golf in a LaFortune ladies association for several years. She was a member of the Summit Club, Philbrook and Gilcrease Museums in Tulsa. She was still an active member of Boston Avenue United Methodist Church.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband E. L. "Tommy" Thomas and her daughter Nanci LaRoque Calderwood. She is survived by Nanci's husband Jim and their son William Calderwood: Dorothy's son Roger LaRoque Thomas and his wife, Georgeanna, their children Braxton LaRoque Thomas and his wife Sarah, Jeffrey LaRoque Thomas and his wife Ali, Jamilyn and her husband Conor O'Donnell, and Dorothy's great-grandchildren, Sadie, Sage, Avery, Sidney and Brenner. Also her niece Gloria Metts, of Brideport, Texas and cousins Paul and Carolyn Smith, of Roseville, California.
The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to Debbie Rider, Kerry Nunley and all of mother's many other caregivers and staff at Montereau for their excellent care.
A memorial service will be held for family and friends at on Monday, March 12, 2018 at 11:15 a.m. at the Montereau Chapel. Reception to follow.
