Obituary

Douglas F. Gorman, age 75, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 18, 2026, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, following a valiant battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born on May 17, 1950, in Oelwein, Iowa.
Doug was preceded in death by his father, Richard John Gorman; his mother, Doris Naomi Shinneman Gorman Pepin; and his stepfather, George Pepin.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Millie Harding Gorman; his daughter, Stacie Leigh Gorman Cannon and her husband, Chad Cannon; and his son, Mitchell Douglas Gorman and his wife, Elizabeth Pond Gorman.
He was a proud and devoted "Bompa" to his grandchildren: Cougar Cannon and his wife, Amelia Cannon; Juliet Cannon; Brock Cannon; Gunner Cannon; Estella Gorman; and Geneva Gorman.
Doug earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Georgia State University and
dedicated 54 years to the manufactured housing industry. He owned Home-Mart, Inc. in Tulsa, Oklahoma, for 30 years.
Throughout his distinguished career, Doug was widely respected for his leadership and
dedication to affordable housing. In 1997, he received the Sandy Goodman Award from the Manufactured Housing Association of Oklahoma. He was honored as the 2000 Small Business Person of the Year by the Tulsa Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce. In 2012, he was inducted into the Manufactured Housing Hall of Fame in Elkhart, Indiana.
Doug never met a stranger. He loved his career and took great joy in meeting new people each day. For 54 years, he championed affordable housing while serving clients and colleagues in Georgia, Texas, Oklahoma, and Washington, D.C.
Eight years ago, Doug joined Clayton Homes after selling his dealership, Home-Mart. As Sales Manager of Freedom Homes, he continued to find purpose and joy in helping families improve their housing situations.
Doug was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints since the age of nine. He served throughout his life as a devoted servant, leader, teacher, and friend.
Doug was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a cherished grandfather. Doug and Millie were both born in Iowa, raised in Georgia, and met while working at Six Flags Over Georgia 57 years ago. After dating for three years, they were blessed with 54 wonderful years of marriage.
Through Doug's work, they were fortunate to travel to many places around the world, but their favorite thing was simply being together and spending time with family and friends.
Family meant everything to Doug. He loved his large extended family and treasured annual family reunions that spanned more than 60 years. Those gatherings, filled with laughter, playfulness, and love, were among his greatest joys.
Doug especially cherished time with his immediate family. He loved sleepovers with his
grandchildren, movie nights, games, and warm chocolate chip cookies. He treasured trips to New York to visit Mitch and his family, where swimming, adventures, and ice cream outings filled their time together.
Doug will be missed more than words can express. While our hearts are broken, we are
comforted by our faith and the knowledge that families can be together forever through our Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ.
