HENSON, Douglas Andrew, passed away on May 24, 2014, hours before his 90th birthday. He was born on May 25, 1924 in Glasgow, KY to Jim D. Henson and Gertie (Wilson) Henson.
Doug was the oldest of three children. He had two sisters, Jessie Pearl Usher, who passed in January, 2014 and Gloria Christine Brazeal, who passed in February, 2014.
Doug is now reunited with his loving wife, Roberta and their son, Douglas Allen, both having predeceased him. He is survived by his nephew, Del E. Brazeal and his wife, Michelle.
Doug joined the Navy on March 22, 1943 and served honorably in WWII. He was honorably discharged on February 10, 1946 as a Coxswain. In 1949, Doug was named "Mr. Oklahoma" and was an avid body builder and enjoyed a brief career as a professional wrestler. He joined the Tulsa Police Department in May, 1947 and retired as Corporal in October, 1974 having served Tulsa citizens for 27 years.
Doug loved his country and spent his whole life serving and protecting its citizens from evil and corruption. He was a good friend, faithful husband, and loving uncle. He will be missed.
Graveside services will be 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at Memorial Park Cemetery.
