Obituary

Douglas "Doug" Michael Holden (Dad, Daddy's Doug) died peacefully on May 22, 2016 in Tulsa, OK at the age of 71.
Doug is survived by his wife, Kitty; daughter Lisa Holden; son and daughter-in-law, Anthony Wayne and Kimberly Holden; grandchildren, Anna and Christian Holden; brother, David Holden; and sisters Denise Rodgers and Deborah Holden. Doug is also survived by nieces and nephews, Greg Holden, Peter Holden, Jacob Martin, Molly Martin-Brooks, and Toni Basinger; stepsons Bryn Wilson and Bren Wilson; and stepdaughter Holly Dorlander. He is preceded in death by his parents, Wayne M. and Carolyn Marie Holden and nephew Jeffrey Holden.
Doug was born on November 4, 1944 in Duncan, OK to Wayne and Marie Holden. After graduating from Duncan High School, Doug spent several years in the United States Navy, including a stint on the famed USS Ticonderoga during the Vietnam War. He attended school at Cameron University in Lawton, OK and eventually received a history degree from Central State University in Edmond, OK. Doug held several positions in the professional world with most of that time spent in the banking industry. Doug's personality was perfect for working with customers to come to the best solution to a banking need.
Doug was a very unique individual with a loving and energetic personality that was infectious when you encountered him. He was an avid collector of a variety of specialty items, which he enjoyed spending time showing you. He "loved" politics in a love/hate relationship. He loved to talk it, but hated positions that were contrary to his position because his position, of course, was the right one! Doug lived his last years very privately in his community with his wife Kitty, but always welcomed a visit from his kids and grandkids. He welcomed all into his family, witnessed by his loving relationship with his daughter-in-law and step children later in life. His grandchildren will miss him deeply and loved coming out to visit him. Doug will be greatly missed by his friends and family, but we can all rejoice in him moving on to a better place. His pain and discomfort are now gone and he is currently arguing his point with all the past politicians that supported matters contrary to his!
A celebration of life and spreading of ashes is scheduled at his home on 13102 South Walnut; Claremore, OK 74017 on Saturday, June 11, 2016 from 11:00am to 3:00pm. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Doug's life. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation in his memory to the American Cancer Society at < https://donate.cancer.org/index > or send any cards to the aforementioned Claremore address.
