Douglas Bronson Manning Sr.

December 7, 1944 - January 29, 2026

Douglas Bronson Manning Sr., lovingly known as Doug, passed away peacefully in his home in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on January 29. Doug was born on December 7, 1944, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Carl and Emily Manning. He grew up in Tulsa and graduated from Central High School in 1963. He went on to attend the University of Oklahoma, remaining a proud OU alumnus throughout his life.

Doug faithfully attended First Baptist Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He also proudly served his country in the United States Army.

Doug dedicated many years to education and athletics, retiring in 1997 from Tulsa Public Schools, where he worked as both a teacher and a coach. His passion for sports extended far beyond the classroom and field-he was deeply involved in umpiring and was honored with induction into the Oklahoma Umpire Hall of Fame.

In his free time, Doug enjoyed umpiring, golfing, fishing, hunting, and, most of all, spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He especially cherished traveling on cruises with his beloved wife, Janice.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Janice Manning; & his sister, Diane Goss. He is survived by children, Jasha Lee (Jarrod), & Douglas Bronson Manning Jr. (Jenny); Grandchildren, Madison Lee, Jasten Lee, & Molly Manning; great grandchildren, Audri, Avery, Alayah, & Handsome (Kaevion); Brother, Danny Manning (Terry), and several other nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Doug's life was marked by service, dedication, and love for family, faith, and community. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

A viewing will be held Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Moore Southlawn Funeral Home, 9350 E. 51st Street, Tulsa, Oklahoma. Funeral services will take place 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, February 4, at First Baptist Church, downtown Tulsa. Moore Southlawn 918-663-2233
