WHITT, Douglas Patterson, 94 passed away at his residence November 19, 2019. Doug was born June 27, 1924 in Ardmore, OK to Joseph Patterson and Eva McLish Whitt. Doug started school in Oklahoma City and he attended Lee Elementary in Tulsa, OK. He graduated from Central High School in 1943.
During summers, Doug worked as a roughneck in the oil patch. As one of the greatest generations, he joined the Army Air Corps. He was trained in multiple areas of the Army Air Corps as a gunner and mechanic. He worked his way to Corporal and Crew Chief for the B-25's. Doug had just finished training as the war wound down.
He attended the University of Tulsa for two years and joined PKA Fraternity. He was hired
by Carter Oil Company as a Roughneck and worked in Lindsey, OK and Vernal, UT. He worked for several other companies as a Design Draftsman at Lee C. Moore, North American, Douglas Aircraft Company, Engine Design Group and retired from Williams Brothers in 1983.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Marjorie (Whitt) Moore. Doug is survived by his sons, Greg Whitt and wife, Judy of Tulsa, OK, Cecil Whitt , Robert Whitt and wife, Sara; grandchildren, Natasha Taylor, Robin Whitt Armstrong; great-grandchildren, Vance Whitt, Autumn Armstrong and Mickey Taylor; brother, Michael J. "Mike" Whitt, Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
