"Uncle Dow" Marquiess left this life on September 2, 2024. He was born on June 24th, 1929 to Duncan and Loyeszelle Marquiess in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Dow was the oldest of six children, and at the age of 14, dropped out of school and went to work to help support his family. He was only 16 when he joined the US Navy, serving 5 years, 9 months, and 18 days of active duty, with assignments that included service on the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt, a Midway-class Aircraft Carrier. His active service was followed by two terms in the Navy Reserve. His awards included the National Defense Service Medal.
