Doyle L "Dutch" Williams was born on Nov 28, 1923, in Savanna, Ok. He peacefully passed into Heaven at his home on Aug 3, 2017, following a lengthy illness.
He had 2 sisters and 4 brothers. The family grew up on 400 acres which is now the Army Ammunition Depot. He graduated from Savanna High School in 1942 where he was the quarterback of the football team and also played basketball. An Athletic Scholarship has been established in his name at Savanna HS.
Following graduation, he enlisted in the Army Air Corp during WWII. He was an airplane and engine mechanic on B29s in Guam. He was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, American Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, WWII Victory Ribbon, and the Distinguished Unit Badge.
He married the love of his life, Lucille Smith on Oct 4, 1947, and they moved to Oklahoma City after being recruited to work at the new Tinker Air Force Base. He worked 35 years as an Engine Inspection Quality Control Technician. He was awarded the Government Valued Employee Award for his invention and design of an aircraft control device shortcut that would save the government money and is still in use today.
He always enjoyed traveling, working in his garden, cooking, and spending time in his shop with all his tools. If it was broken -- he fixed it.
He was a charter member of the First Assembly of God Church, Midwest City where he was a Sunday School teacher for many years. He spent many hours visiting hospitals and nursing homes with his trademark smile and sincere prayers.
His proudest accomplishments are his close relationship to God, his children, and his beloved wife.
He was preceded in death by his parents James and Allie Williams, brothers Garvis, Roy and Jacil. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Lucille. Daughters Linda Mooney (Vince) of Tulsa, and Nancy Williams of Midwest City; two sisters, Freda Diz and Lucille Croninger.
He is walking with his Lord Jesus Christ today and forever more.
