Duane was born to Ralph G. Cox and Edythe M. Hall Cox on November 7, 1947. He was the elder of two children.

Duane attended elementary and junior high school in Purcell, OK and Tulsa, OK; high school at McLain High School; and college at Northeastern State College and University of Tulsa.

Duane married Linda E. Lauhon on July 22, 1967. The two were happily married for 53 years. He had one son, Carey Duane Cox, who was born June 21, 1973; and one granddaughter, Hannah Jo Shaw, born September 9, 2003.

Duane established a successful career with QSP, a division of Reader's Digest, where he worked until retirement.

He served on several committees on the Northeastern Oklahoma District Church of the Nazarene, and was a faithful member of Regency Park Church of the Nazarene for over 40 years.

Duane is survived by his wife of 53 years, Linda E. Cox; his son, Carey D. Cox; his granddaughter Hannah J. Shaw and her parents, Tim and Shirley; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bud and Linda Lauhon and Jay and Jane Lauhon; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Duane is preceded in death by his grandparents, his father Ralph, his mother Edythe, and his sister Nanci.
