Dura Lottie Schumacher Coleman passed away from this life on November 14, 2016 into the arms of her Savior and Lord. She was a Christian from her youth and was not shy about telling others that God loved them, but she was his favorite--and we believed her.
Dura Lottie Schumacher Coleman was born September 20, 1926 in Red Fork, Oklahoma to Theodore and Lottie Schumacher. She was their only daughter and she had 6 brothers and is survived by her brother, Louie Schumacher and his wife, Marvene, of Duncan, Oklahoma.
She was preceded in death by Fred Coleman in March, 1985 after being married for 42 years and also by her granddaughter, Rachel Wolfe. She is survived by her four daughters, Crystal Reilly, Sandy (Lind) Wickersham, Claudia (Howard) Oaks and Karen (Lance) Beard. She has 6 grandchildren: Ken (Gina) Morrison, David Morrison, Crystal (Doug) Vann Wallstrom; Allyson McDonald (Cody) and Leslie Haynsworth (John). She is great-grandmother to 13 children: Maxwell, Hannah, Roman and Isabella Morrison; Christian and Chanceller Wolfe; Charlotte and Rhett Wallstrom, Madelyn, Lilyan, and Evelyn McDonald; Carter and Preston Haynsworth.
She has numerous nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law, Nita Coffey and Marvene Schumacher. For many years, until no one remained to play, Mom and her brothers and their wives would have their tradition of playing poker on New Year's eve. The next day Mom would tell us how much of our inheritance she had lost...usually a whole ten pennies! What fun!
Dura was loved by many outside of her large family including her many sisters and brothers in Christ from Eastwood Baptist Church and First Baptist, Coweta, as well as fellow knitters and quilters from Tulsa and Coweta. She knitted, crocheted and quilted beautiful items for family and friends and we will treasure these keepsakes. When living in Coweta, She had a "green thumb" and her family enjoyed healthy, beautiful vegetables. She also loved to fish in the family pond in Coweta. Upon her return to Tulsa after Fred's death, her interests revolved around her family, the "Knit Idiots" club and her friends and activities at Eastwood Baptist.
Graveside service will be 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at Rose Hill Cemetery, 4161 E. Admiral Place, Tulsa, OK. Moore's Southlawn 918-663-2233
