Adrain "Earl" Griffith, 84, of Tulsa, Oklahoma passed away on Tuesday, September 24th 2019. He was born in Checotah, Oklahoma on August 9, 1935 to Audie and Bertha Griffith.
Earl attended Daniel Webster High School, starting his freshman year and graduated in 1953. He was a valuable member of his class. He became interested in photography and took pictures for the yearbook and school newspaper. After graduation Earl attended Tulsa University earning a BSBA, Business Administration and Management degree. While at TU Earl was the manager for the football and basketball teams. He traveled with teams and acquired many life long stories and friendships.
Earl joined the Air National Guard in 1958 due to the urging of his good friend Eddie Creekpaum. He served for 32 years retiring as a Chief Master Sergeant. Earl was very active in the guard. He was a valuable member of the Air Guard bowling team. He would participate in the Guard tournaments nationwide. While working at the base he was active with the Boy Scouts whose focus was on aviation. Earl and his wife, Allene, were members of the Golden Hurricanes and went to various football and basketball games.
Earl had various hobbies throughout his life. He bowled in American Bowling Congress tournaments nationwide for many years. He also served on the Tulsa Bowling Association Board of Directors for several years. He loved genealogy. He spent many years researching family histories. Earl also taught classes and gave presentations at the SW Tulsa Historical Society.
Earl is preceded in death by his loving wife Allene. He is survived by daughter Julie Griffith of Tulsa, son and wife Greg and Wendy Griffith of Fort Smith, AR, granddaughter Payton Griffith of Fort Smith, AR, granddaughter and spouse Kori and Ryan Stewart of Fort Smith, AR, grandson and spouse Taylor and Megan Slayton of Van Buren, AR, and 2 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be 5-7 PM, Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at Moore's Southlawn, 9350 E. 51st, Tulsa, OK. Graveside will be 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at Greenlawn Cemetery, Checotah, OK. Moore's Southlawn 918-663-2233
