EARL FRANKLIN SMITH, JR.
Earl was born in Kansas City, MO on October 28, 1932 as the second child of Earl F. Smith, Sr. and Mary Maine Carlock Smith. Earl passed from this life January 16, 2015 in Tulsa, OK. He was pre-deceased by his parents, his sister Patricia Jean Smith, his uncle David Carlock, his cousin Lynda Palazzo, and his son, Philip Chapman Smith. He is survived by his grandson Vincent Dean Smith, cousin Ed Richardson and wife Annette, cousin Paul Richard Smith and wife Chris, niece Pam Smith, nephew George Smith, aunt Joyce Carlock, and former wife, Sue Ann Chapman.

Earl grew up working in his family's restaurant, Smith's Restaurant at 18th and Boston in Tulsa. He graduated from Central High School and attended Oklahoma State University. He served as a U.S. Army artilleryman stationed in Germany during the Korean War. He worked as an electrical and mechanical engineer for a number of businesses in Tulsa including Telex, Marsuco and Preston-Eastin, as well as owning several businesses over the years. He taught Electrical Engineering at Tulsa Vo-Tech in Tulsa. He had a natural gift for engineering and could repair and maintain huge industrial machines and robots. When asked how he knew how to do these things, he replied, lilt seems like I was born knowing." He also enjoyed carpentry and building and making things. He could fix most anything.

Earl was a member of the Presbyterian Church and a 32nd degree Mason. As a youth he spent many summers at Christian athletic Kanakuk Karnp in Branson, MO, and then sent his son Philip and grandson Vincent there during their formative years. He was a Boy Scout Troop Leader as a young man, and was active in Boy Scouts with his grandson Vincent in his later years. He was very active in Vincent's life, from baseball to bicycles and Boy Scouts. He was always there for him.

Earl liked people and people liked him. He was always available to help others. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
