Obituary

Earnestine Thompson, 89, of Tulsa, passed from this life April 8, 2017. She was born May 3, 1927 in Hackett, Arkansas to Earnest and Lela Hall. She grew up in this small town in the stone house built by her father and uncle. Her family moved to Tulsa temporarily during World War II for her dad to work in a defense plant, so she spent her senior year there and graduated from Tulsa Central High. Coming from the small school at Hackett, the old downtown Central was quite an adventure and she always attended their reunions. She was married to Granvil Hugh "Chub" Thompson after the war, moved back to Tulsa and had two sons, Philip and Keith. She retired from Williams Companies after 17 years as a statistical typist. She spent a lot of time during her retirement years caring for her mother who lived to be 99.
Earnestine's priorities were to God, her family and friends, and to Immanual Baptist Church. She accepted Christ into her heart at an early age and structured her life around the church. She was proud to be a member of the Sanctuary Choir at Immanual and she and Chub devoted many years working with the youth. Their "vacations" often found them as sponsors for summer trips to Falls Creek and weekend retreats to Tulakogee on Ft Gibson Lake. Sunday mornings, Sunday nights, and Wednesday nights were always spent at church. Her sons were blessed with loving Christian parents and a childhood filled with laughter. Her sense of humor was often tested by her husband and sons but fortunately she had the ability to overlook their antics.
She is survived by her son Philip Thompson and wife Amber of Jenks; daughter-in-law Christie Thompson of Broken Arrow; grandsons Roger and Emmet, and a loving group of nephews, nieces, and cousins. She was preceded in death by parents Earnest and Lela Hall; husband Granvil Hugh Thompson; son Keith Thompson and a brother Billy Gene Hall.
