Edgardo Torres died peacefully at the age of 90 on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, surrounded by people he loved and who loved him deeply in return.
He leaves his wife of 63 years, Mary Torres; his daughter, Linda; his son, Stephen; his daughter, Cynthia; his son, Richard and wife, Kellye; seven grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and close friends. He is also survived by two sisters, Margarita and Milagros, in Puerto Rico.
Edgardo was born in Juana Diaz, Puerto Rico, on February 3, 1926. He graduated from high school there and joined the Coast Guard during World War II, after which he studied at the Spartan School of Aeronautics in Tulsa. He worked at American Airlines, first as a Mechanic and then as an Inspector, until retiring at the age of 62.
After his retirement Edgardo stayed active playing golf, bowling, and delivering Meals on Wheels. Never idle, he was always busy on one project or another at home. In his later years he was an avid fan of the Oklahoma City Thunder professional basketball team and would not miss a game.
A lifelong Catholic, Edgardo was first a member of Saints Peter and Paul Church in Tulsa but has now attended Saint Pius X Church for many years.
Visitation will be Sunday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Moore Funeral Home, 9350 East 51st, Tulsa, OK on March 6th. A Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. that evening at the same location.
Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. at St. Pius X Church on Monday, March 7th followed by Graveside at Floral Haven Cemetery. Moore's Southlawn 918-663-2233
