Edward John Main, Sr. was born on June 5, 1917, to Edward John Main and Katherine MacArthur Main in Queens, N.Y. He entered eternal life on December 5, 2018, at the age of 101 years. He graduated from Richmond Hill High School in 1936; he completed aviation school and, in 1940, he became an apprentice mechanic with American Airlines, retiring as a Supervisor in 1978. He married Marian Elizabeth Bartram, and they moved to Tulsa in 1946, when the airline opened its airplane overhaul base. He was a member of AA's 3 Diamond Society, and enjoyed visiting other former employees. He then assisted his sons by making court filings and deliveries. During their joint lives Marian and Ed were active members of the community, at Trinity Episcopal Church and becoming supporters and founders of St. Mark's Episcopal Church and St. Simeon's. He later became the loving and faithful full time care giver to Marian, until her passing in 2007. He made a new life for himself at the Villages of Southern Hills, where he continued to enjoy helping and caring for others and sharing his fun loving spirit. In his 90's he enrolled in tap dancing lessons with Ruth Ann Hudspeth and enjoyed performing with the Step-Sisters. He took piano lessons. He enjoyed vintage music, particularly songs about New York, and the 1940's. He is survived by Ronald Main and wife Shari, Edward John Main, Jr. and wife Janice McCormick, grand daughter Emily Jean Schirmer-Main, her husband Trent, and children Teddy and Henry. The family wishes to thank all of the community and staff of the Villages of Southern Hills, for their love, care, and their support of him. A celebration of his life will be held at the Villages of Southern Hills on Wednesday Dec. 12, 2018 at 2 p.m.
